Our Story

Stop the Violence of Long Island (formerly Stop the Violence Basketball Tournament) was established in 2006. The goal of this organization was to bring young men together in an atmosphere that would create a bridge of friendship. We figured out that if these young men can come together and play basketball, which most young men do, it would create sociable relationships on and off the court. As we grow, we would like to start a mentoring program to teach young men to be productive citizens and to help cease the acts of violence within our communites.
